What began as one person’s dream to fill the skies of New York with music on September 11th in 2002 has since grown into an event of global proportions. In 2009, close to 200 concerts were organized globally with the help of 10,000 volunteers and 15,000 performers worldwide.
Among this year’s concerts are the simultaneous concerts organized by British Memorial Garden Trust in New York (Hanover Square at 12:30 pm) and in London (Grosvenor Square at 5:30 pm, featuring The Regimental Band of the Coldstream Guards and The Band and Bugles of the Rifles); 15 concerts in the city of Rome, with the closing concert to be held in the Sala Santa Cecilia at the Auditorium Parco della Musica for 2,800 people; in Japan, 68 concerts will take place over 3 days; more concerts will be held in countries such as Ghana, United Arab Emirates, Haiti and Spain.
