Though we do not usually audition individual performers, we recommend anyone wanting to get on the calendar to play at Nita's to join us during an Open Mic Night. For those musicians that do not live in the area, a cd should be sent to the cafe and a web link can be emailed.
Have you been booked....
If you have been scheduled to play at Nita's Sweet Bean Cafe there are a few things that you might want to know:
We are a smoke-free venue. However, there is a smoking area on the patio
We are located in a wonderful and unique space. Inside the Denny Grimes Building. 1 door south of Sam's Club off US 41.
We try to advertise all performances in The News-Press Gulf Coasting section.
However, we ask that performers reach out to local media outlets. If you are booked at Nita's please e-mail a request for media contacts.
To increase the number of folks who come out for your show it is a good idea to place posters around the area.
Don't forget to send 4-6 posters to the cafe.
CD and poster(s) to display sent directly to Nita’s at least 2 weeks prior to performance.
SOUND:
(The following does not apply to any Open Mic Nights, Singer Songwriter Nights, Showcase Performances or Band Nights-complete sound is supplied during these nights)
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
Booked performer(s) supply Microphones, Mic cables, Mic stands, guitar stands, guitar cables. Amps up to 3050 watts, enough speakers to fill the house with sound and misc. other performance items as needed to set up for performance.
Venue provides:
Stage area 8x12
Drum Riser 5x8 (House drums will not be removed for any performances)
Key Board Available
Stage lighting
Area to set up promotional sale items
Set up for stage area –armless chairs for stage
2 beverages to performer- Saturday performances only- This allowance does not include tips, please take care of your servers.
We provide at a minimal cost for set up and sound monitoring:
24 channel mixer
Microphones and cables-Also 2 condenser mic’s if needed
Guitar stands (2), plus guitar rack and cables
Acoustic plug in pick ups (3)
Power amp's up to 3050 watts
2 large speakers stacks
3-4 stage monitors
Sound monitoring throughout show
Set up and removal of system
Sound check prior to performance
Extra’s – Video recording
Audio Recording
1 copy each will be provided of video and audio
Sound checks should be at least one hour prior to performance. Please be sure you are here at least an hour early to get set up.
Our space is quite unique and many performers have found after arriving to set up that they did not have enough gear to adequately fill the space.If you choose to do your own sound (we do not recommend this) please allow for more time. Please keep in mind that you will not be able to plug into our house gear. All sound is your responsibility.
Notice regarding sound preference is appreciated at least 2 weeks prior to performance. Please note: Cost will double if you choose to have us set up on the day of arrival.
Our patrons are music lovers but struggle with excessive volume. Please make every effort to keep down the noise level. We will insist that you acknowledge and respect our judgment and take immediate measures to remedy any problem. We reserve the right to stop a show for non-compliant acts.
Cover Charge:
We leave the cover charge up to each individual performer(s). Please keep in mind what your fan base may be in the area in determining what to charge. Discuss with management prior to show.- Passing a tip jar is also an option.
We suggest:
If you are new to the area and do not have a fan base built up we suggest-bulk sample CD’s with at least 3 songs to give away to customers (this helps self promote show) w/date and time of performance printed on cd jackets.
Bring CD’s, posters, T-shirts, etc to sell at show.
